Enfin, quand les touristes sont présents!

Promenade en montagne : il est possible de faire quelques randonnées dans la foret pour gravir les collines dont les plus hautes culminent a 635 mètres d'altitude. La plupart des itinéraires mènent a une cascade ou a un point de vue panoramique. Le promeneur attentif observera lézards, oiseaux et plantes tropicales. Il est tout a fait possible de se baigner dans les cascades, l'eau y est fraiche mais non glacée. Il y a aussi de vastes vergers de durians, adaptées aux sols de montagne.

Koh Samui était la plus grosse plantation de cocotiers du monde.

A Nathon, hotel Jinta de 420 a 630 B. Face a la mer, un peu en retrait de la route, calme. Non loin de la, le Sunset restaurant, en salle climatisée ou en terrasse sur la mer, avec animation musicale le soir.
A noter aussi, qu'il y a de plus en plus de particuliers qui louent des bungalows dans l'intérieur des terres.

Restaurant de poisson
A Chaweng, face au Silver Sand GH, Nakorn restaurant propose des poissons et fruits de mer a des prix abordables: le poisson 40Bahts/100g. Malgré l'absence de cadre (pilier de briques, toiture en fibrociment), le restaurant est souvent rempli par des 'farangs' (étrangers). Preferer les places sous ventilateur.

Services
Transports : les songtaews circulent toute la journée et un peu moins le soir. Faire signe pour que le songtaew s'arrete (il sera surement le premier a vous klaxonner) demander ou il va. Pour s'arreter, il suffit de presser la sonnette au plafond quand on veut s'arreter, on paye en descendant, en faisant l'appoint, sans demander combien ca coute. (Nathon-Chaweng = 80 Bahts). Le soir après 19h, c'est plus cher il faut discuter avant de monter. Les moto-taxis vous conduisent ou vous voulez. Les taxis climatisés ? je n'ai pas utilisé.
Poste de Chaweng : ouverte du lundi au vendredi de 9h a 12h et 13h a 16h30. Poste restante, Chaweng post office, koh Samui, Surratthani 84320, Thailande (code postal après la ville).
Tesco Lotus : supermarché non loin de Chaweng, avec boutiques (téléphonie, restaurants (dont un restaurant de suki), parfumerie, vins et alcools...)
Location de moto : vitesses automatiques au pied, sans embrayage. A la journée compter 150 Bahts, sans assurance. Evitez absolument de rouler sans assurance: la conduite a Samui est risquée. Ne laissez pas non plus le passeport en gage chez le loueur, ce n'est pas le role du passeport. Portez un casque, des lunettes, mefiez vous du sable sur la chaussée, et des autres usagers, 2 ou 4 roues, et roulez A GAUCHE. Les routes sont constituées de dalles de béton.
Location de voiture : Budget a un bureau de location a l'aéroport de Samui. A partir de 900B/jour (catégorie très demandée). Avec assurance, véhicule en bon état, inspection commune, carte de l'ile offerte. Conforme aux standards internationaux. Nécessite une carte bancaire et la présentation de l'équivalence internationale de votre permis de conduire (en France: a demander gratuitement aux préfectures). Le passeport n'est pas pris en gage.

It is Som-Tum-Thai (Papaya Salad or Papaya pok pok).

Som-Tum-Thai (Papaya Salad)



Ingredients

Green papaya chopped, sliced 1 cup
Fresh bide chill 3-8 pieces
Plump tomato cut into half 2 pieces
Green Beans cut into 1” length 1 pieces
Garlic (small cloves) 5 teaspoon
Dried shrimp 1 tablespoon
Peanut roasted, peeled 2 tablespoons
Fish sauce 1 tablespoon
Lemon juice 2 tablespoons
Palm sugar 3 tablespoons

Directions

1. Crush slightly chilies and garlic.
2. Add Green Beans, plump tomato, and peanut and crush them until well mixed.
3. Taste by palm sugar, lemon juice, fish sauce.
4. Add papaya, dried shrimp and crush them until will mixed. Remove to the plate for serve.Sprinkle with peanuts.
5. Serve along with fresh vegetables such as cabbage, Beans, Chinese water spinach.

Tum-Yum-Krung (Thai food)

Tum-Yum-Krung (Spicy soup with prawn and lemon grass)

Ingredients

Prawn 3 pieces
Galangal cut into oval 5 pieces
Lemon grass crushed, cut into 2 inches length 2 pieces
Red-Green Bird-shit chill, crushed 15 pieces
Kaffir lime leave torn coarsely 5 leaves
Plum tomato cut half 3 pieces
Champignon mushroom cut half 5 leaves
Lemon juice 1 ½ pieces
Fish sauce 3 tablespoons
Milk ½ cup
Black shrimp paste 3 tablespoons
Clear soup 3 cups
Cilantro leaves for sprinkle

Directions
1. Boil Clear soup, add galangal, lemon grass, Heat just to boil, add prawn.
2. Add mushroom, plum tomato. Season with black shrimp paste, fish sauce, lemon juice.
3. Add milk, bird-shit chill, and kaffir lime leave. Sprinkle with cilantro leaves

Full Moon Party In Thailand

On the night of the full moon a huge shining orb rises above the horizon, turning the sea silvery gold and bathing the land with a soft magical light. Along the kilometer-long beach at Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise Beach), Ten thousands of tourists from around the world are gathered to join with local people to enjoy the music, dancing and food. Pad-Grapau-Gai (Thai food)

Pad-Grapau-Gai (Fried chickem with basil leaves)

Ingredients

Chicken meat ½ kilogram
Small bird shit chills 45 pieces
Brandy 1 ½ tablespoons
Garlic 2 tablespoons
Yellow chill 8 pieces
Basil leaves 2 cups
Fish sauce 1 tablespoon
Sugar 1 tablespoon
Vegetable oil

Directions

1. Grind chill with garlic just coarsely.
2. Hest oil into the skillet just to heat, add prepared chill, stir-fry until aromatic.
Add chicken meat and stir-fry until well combined.
3. Season with fish sauce, sugar, and brandy and until cooked.
Add yellow chill, basil leaves and stir-fry well. Remove and serve while warm.
